Product Description
Asterisk is the world’s leading open-source PBX, telephony engine, and telephony applications toolkit with immense flexibility. This book will give you a firm understanding of Asterisk Gateway Interface (AGI) development and proper AGI development practices. You will learn how to formulate Atomic AGI-enabled scripts, enabling rapid development within a well-defined Asterisk execution and runtime environment. This book builds from the simplest form of an Asterisk application, the dialplan-based application, gradually building a full understanding of AGI scripting. The book also introduces a new concept of AGI development named “Atomic AGI” or “Particle Programming”. It will introduce you to various techniques … More >>

Product Description
It may be a while before Internet telephony with VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) reaches critical mass, but there’s already tremendous movement in that direction. A lot of organizations are not only attracted to VoIP’s promise of cost savings, but its ability to move data, images, and voice traffic over the same connection. Think of it: a single Internet phone call can take information sharing to a whole new level. That’s why many IT administrators and developers are actively looking to set up VoIP-based private telephone switching systems within the enterprise. The efficiency that network users can reach with it is almost mind-boggling. And cheap, if the system is built with open source software like Aste… More >>

Product Description

Using the open source Asterisk platform, you can deploy a state-of-the-art VoIP PBX on a low-cost PC or server for a fraction of the cost of conventional PBX systems. The only drawback to Asterisk is its notoriously poor documentation. Practical Asterisk 1.4 and 1.6 is the solution to that problem. This book provides all the detailed, real-world, ground-level information you need to plan, install, configure, and reliably operate Asterisk in any environment.

Have you just upgraded your Freepbx system and now see this error when trying to log in the web administration.

FATAL ERROR

SELECT username, password_sha1, extension_low, extension_high, deptname, sections FROM ampusers WHERE username = ‘asteriskuser’
DB Error: no such field

this is a simple thing to fix.

The problem is that the upgrade should have changed a column name in your my mysql database. ( but it didn’t for some reason )

How to Fix :

You need to log in to your mysql database ( either through phpmyadmin, webmin, ssh or on the console )

if you are using ssh or console you will first need to find your mysql password.

nano /etc/amportal.conf

you will see a line with “AMPDBPASS=xxxxxxx” this is your password

mysql -u asteriskuser -p

it will then ask for your password, key in your password and press enter

now you should have a mysql prompt which will look like this ” mysql-> ”

now you need to select the correct database

use asterisk

and check the current configuration of the table

select * from ampusers;

you should see something like this

+---------------+--------------------+
| username | password | and so on
+---------------+--------------------+

we need to change the password column to password_sha1

alter table ampusers change password password_sha1 varchar(20);

now exit mysql

exit

That is all you need to do. Now you should be able to log in to Freepbx web console.
