Computer maintenance is one way to ensure your laptop computer or personal computer will be running like brand-new five years time. A lot of people do not think of maintenance until something catastrophic happens, but you should be thinking about it now. One section of the maintenance process is keeping your computer operating at topnotch speed.

There are a lot of causes to why computers start to run sluggish: computer viruses, not enough computer memory, too many applications (goes along with too little computer memory) or a lot of files. Whatever the cause, something has to be done so you don’t have to work at a snail’s pace.

Behind the scenes in your computer, a lot of things are happening. Whenever you hop on the World Wide Web, your computer is possibly allowing “cookie” files to be stored to retrieve where you have been. We download any and everything from music to videos to eBooks from the World Wide Web. There are temporary files produced for a lot of your downloaded items and they can pile up over time.

Occasionally, the hard drive just needs to be tidied up a bit. With the defrag process, the computer ascertains ways to free up space on your hard drive. This cleaning process ensures optimal performance from your computer when something else is not the problem. Defragmenting your computer is an effective opening move when performance is not at its finest.

If you are having a challenging time navigating the different files on your computer, the real name of the process used to rectify this is “Disk Defragmenter.” You will be able to use your program search bar on the Start Menu to discover it easily. The defragmenter takes fragmented files and consolidates them or removes them altogether depending upon what they are and if they are required.

This is not something that you should to do every day. Remember, we are talking about maintenance here. Executing the operation once a week is good for those who utilise their computer every day and create a lot of documents and files. The neatest thing about Windows is that these maintenance procedures can be set up on a schedule so that they work behind the scenes. Schedule maintenance operations at unusual times like early in the morning or in the middle of the night, when you are not working on your computer in order to keep it from slowing down your personal computer whilst you are attempting to work.

In a nutshell, disk defragmentation is crucial for everybody. Scheduling the procedure allows you to think about other matters. If the defragmentation process does its job, your computer will persist in working well for you with no hitches or glitches.

Have you experiencied headaches when you work at your computer all day? It could posibly be the montior. If you believe that the monitor may be inducing your head to thump, here are a few hints to cut out the blinding glare.

For a long time, people did not think of the computer monitor. When the monitor is bright it is easier to see, particularly whilst the surrounding light is low. But, if you have ever considered somebody sitting in a dim lit room looking at a computer monitor, what does it remind you of? That is right – somebody watching television. The only difference is that we are instructed not to sit that close up to a television screen.

No wonder the monitor’s glare impacts on you so! For office workers and home business owners, the computer is a necessity. Whether it is a laptop computer or a personal computer, you rely on it to carry on your business. So, what can you do to end the eyestrain?

Tip #1 – Unplug your laptop computer. When your laptop computer is plugged in, it operates on AC power. The computer monitor is brighter as you work. A good laptop computer battery should run detached of AC power for six or eight hours. Yet a four-hour battery will still serve you well. So, simply unplug. The monitor is now dimmed because it is utilising the battery. Do work in four hour stints and then recharge the battery whilst you perform something else.

Tip #2 – Use lamps and overhead lighting to compensate. If your monitor allows you to adjust the settings, turn them down. A desk lamp can compensate for the low light and help eliminate the eyestrain.

Tip #3 – Invest in a glare filter. For personal computers the filter isbuilte into a square bracket that attaches to the monitor screen. Because lengthy hours are spent working with the computer, your eyes will not become affected and induce headaches. Employing the filter all of the time will benefit everybody who uses the computer.

For laptop computers, glare filters attach on the edges of the screen frame or directly on the screen. They should be removed when you are done working to be able to close the laptop computer. A few glare filters even help with privacy so that nobody can watch what you are doing on your laptop computer unless they are immediately in front of the screen.

Now you do not have to wear your dark glasses inside whilst working on your computer. You are now prepared with something even more beneficial: Three solutions to prevent the headaches and still get your work performed or browse the World Wide Web for fun.

For all your Computer Hardware requirements Brownweb.com.au is a trusted name you can rely on.

Problem. – When I put in the new hard drive, the PS3 first asks me to press the PS button the controller. Then next screen that appears have the following message-

The system software cannot be run correctly. Press the PS button to try to restart the system.

If the system cannot be restarted, the system partition of the hard disk must be reformatted and you must reinstall the system software. Connect storage media that contains update data of version x.xx or later and then press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time. For information on how to obtain update data refer to SCE website for your region.

Solution. – First you need to download the latest PS3 Firmware

Then

- To transfer the update data to your PlayStation 3, save the file to a PS3 compatible storage device such as Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, USB drive or PSP.

- Before starting, use your PC to create a folder named ‘PS3′ on the storage media or USB device. Within the folder, create a folder named ‘UPDATE’ (This folder name is case sensitive and must appear in all capital letters). Once the UPDATE folder has been created, download / copy the PS3 system software update to this location.

- Once the update data has been saved, disconnect the storage device and connect it to your PS3 via the slots under the slot cover or the USB connectors depending on the device you’re using.

- Once connected, start your PS3 it should recognize the system software and reinstall.

- Then it should start to format the new hard drive. ?

A computer is like your niftiest friend. You spend hours with it almost daily. But have you looked at it recently? It can become pretty dusty just like you would, if you sat there all day long in the same spot and had everyone’s filthy hands all over you! Here are a few hints for cleaning your laptop computer or personal computer.

The first matter to think of is although your computer screen or monitor resembles a TV screen, you do not clean it the same way. Spraying Windex upon your screen will create a bigger problem. Computers work hard only they are very delicate. Take the soft approach.

Cleaning the Monitor

Whether a laptop computer or a personal computer, the screen will get dust-covered. You touch it and dare we say, probably have sneezed on it (deadlines still exist even when you are sickly). Over time, all of this dirt builds up on your computer monitor and requires to be cleaned thoroughly.

To ascertain just how dirty your computer is, turn it off and look at the blank screen. Before you cry, take hold of a lint-free cloth. You are able to purchase them at any computer store.

Softly use even pressure as you wipe dirt and dust off of the screen. Be careful, pressing too heavily can damage the components in the screen. This information applies to both laptop computers and personal computers with a newer flat screen.

If the screen is still not clean, you will be able to apply a small amount of cleaner specifically for computer monitors to the screen. Once the heavy grime softens, wipe it off with a lint-free cloth. Commercial cleaners may state that it is harmless for computers but using an approved cleaner is best and won’t leave streaks on your monitor.

Cleaning the Keyboard

The unhealthiest looking place on your computer is the keyboard. Over time, debris, lint, grime, food and other small particles get deposited between keys. Since the keys are so closely located, it is virtually unrealistic to clean between them with a cloth and not pop your keys off.

Alternatively, utilise a can of compressed air to clean your keyboard. Begin at one end of the row of keys and point the spray towards the opposite end to displace all the filth out in one direction. Apply some of the monitor cleaner to wipe skin oils from the top of the keys. Follow all of this up with a computer brush or computer vacuum to remove the last pieces of debris.

Endeavor to do this upkeep on a regular basis. It prevents sticky key situations and you rubbing the screen to remove dirt. Let alone, those filthy germs will no longer lurk and make you ill again! Take care of your computer and it will take care of you.

For all your Computer Hardware requirements Brownweb.com.au is a trusted name you can rely on.

There are a lot of add-ons mentioned when you buy a computer. The sales person might ask about what you plan to do with the computer to assist in finding out the type of video card you’ll need.

What is a video card? They are the component responsible for the images that you see on the computer display. The video card is crucial for gamers, graphic artists and the everyday website surfer. Prior to acquiring just the basic video card or the top of the line one, know how to shop for one.

A video card has four common measures for selecting one:

• Cost
• Speed
• Resolution
• Card Slot Type

Video Card and Graphics Card

You may hear people discuss video cards and graphics cards. They are similar in what they do. Video cards are more valuable to gamers. A gamer wants to have the largest amount of memory on their video card so that they can play faster. Certain games consume a lot of space and no one likes to have technical difficulties just as they’re about to slay the giant beast.

Video games have advanced beyond the huge rectangular blip that was the ball in the Atari Ping-Pong game. Resolution is crucial but some gaming worlds are so advanced that faster play is more of the essence.

Graphics cards are sought after more by graphic artists and those using computer-aided design software. Here, attention to detail is crucial in your designs so that’s what will be the primary consideration here. The same goes for the occasional user who surfs the internet.

Types of Video Cards

This depends upon what type of connection you have for a video card. The video card can already be set up to your preference in a new computer. If you assemble computers, this information is useful.

Just so that you recognise, there are 3 different connection types for video cards. The ones that you’ll see in use most frequently these days are AGP and PCI-E. Older connections use a VGA cable.

Cost

Video cards range from reasonably inexpensive to rather expensive. A internet surfer will not want to spend hundreds of dollars on a video card, but a graphic designer may to accommodate their line of work requirements. Cheaper does not imply lower quality, just less bells and whistles. That is all right if you’re not into gaming or computer design.
Not sure what all the letters stand for? Speak to somebody at your local computer shop who can assist you in choosing your video card wisely.

All that available hard-disk space quickly disappears once you start downloading games, demos, and HD videos. Fortunately, Sony has designed the PS3 to allow console owners to perform their own hard-drive upgrades. You can go out and select your own hard drive instead of being forced to buy an official first-party hard-disk accessory. However, giving console owners that freedom means that aspiring upgraders will need to know how to select the right hard-drive upgrade and the proper installation technique.

One way to stop them is to utilise anti-spyware tools to protect yourself when you’re using the internet.

Nowadays, we do everything from order pizza to shop for household appliances online. With that lamount of traffic and financial data floating about, it is no wonder crooks have turned their attentions to the Internet. But, fortunate for you, so have software system makers.

No one would like to* be the victim of identity theft or fraud. Even though it’s not your fault, the burden of proof is on you and the bureaucratic procedure is enormous. So, do all that you can to protect you and your family while they’re on the internet.

One method of doing this is to fortify your computer with anti-spyware software. Spyware represents computer programs that hide inside other programs, thus the name “spy.” Here’s how it works: You attend a internet site and download a program. The program may be concealing a different program inside to track how you use it. This is a nonfatal spyware program. It was in all likelihood utilised by the internet site for statistical purposes.

Then, there are other spyware that, once downloaded, will get in and rewrite certain things on your computer without your consent. If you have ever downloaded something and then your home page has altered, it was likely caused by a spyware program.

Both of these are moderate examples compared to what commonly happens. Even the mild spyware you do not want. If somebody has to do something behind your back to get you to try it, steer clear. More fatal spyware will explore your files and find financial information.

Anti-spyware tools and programs seek out these fearful additions and get rid of them. A well-protected computer will have both antivirus and anti-spyware installed for a broader overall level of security. Spyware tools, like antivirus can be found free of charge or paid for.

Shop Around

Know what you are purchasing. Make sure that free programs offer you adequate spyware security. Internet sites like STOPzilla and pctools offer free spyware programs for you to use. These tools process behind the scenes in real-time and on schedules to discover spyware. They also clean your browsing history and prevent pop ups all over your screen. Spyware programs also let you know whenever an internet site in your search results is unsafe for you to visit.

Paid spyware programs provide a few more perks but be sure that you actually want those perks for your system. If you choose to pay, find software with multiple user capabilities so you will be able to fortify all of the computers in your home. A few good companies are BitDefender, Avast and AVG.

Protect yourself from the kickoff. Use anti-spyware programs to prevent and remove spyware that jeopardise your computer.

Wouldn’t it be nifty if you could just open up your brain and add more storage so you could remember everything? Oh well, you can’t do that but you can add more storage capacity to your PC or laptop if the need comes up.

When you purchase a computer, it comes with a certain amount of hard drive capacity already linstalled on it. This hard drive capacity is where you can store files, applications, music, videos, pictures and anything else you’d like. It would be swell to have unlimited hard drive capacity but that is not always the case.

Perhaps you’ve discovered that your computer is running slower than normal. You’ve used Disk Defragmenter to combine files and remove others that you don’t need. A computer that still works slowly may need a memory boost.

You are able to check up on the storage capacity of your hard drive. If you go to Start Menu, click on Computer. You will discover a visual representation of your hard disk drives (C and D). The C drive is what you’re looking for. It will display to you how much of the total storage is still available, such as “231GB free of 285.”

When you need more storage, it’s not that difficult to find. The fastest way is to check with the manufacturer or where you purchased the computer from. Almost all name brand computers have websites where you are able to get everything you want with a couple of clicks.

Let’s take Dell for example. On the underside of a Dell laptop computer or on the Dell personal computer tower is your service tag number. With that number, you are able to access all of the information about the computer that they assembled for you. Now, you are able to discover which storage alternatives are available for that model.

Storage comes in various configurations depending upon the age of your computer. It doesn’t take an expert, only you’ll need to pay attention to the instruction manual carefully to get it right. For a laptop computer, the storage will be inserted in the bottom of the device.

In either instance, make sure that the device is switched off and everything is disconnected before commencing. Working at a kitchen table away from carpeted flooring is advisable to avoid troubles with electrostatic electrical energy. Make sure that you’re grounded to avoid shock.

Study all instructions before commencement. There are dedicated slots for storage expansion in both devices. Before you buy a new computer, see if it’s more practicable to increase hard drive capacity for better performance.
